The Multiplexer Product Family is Apogee's flag-ship product line. It is a field-configurable multiplexing system that merges multiple data sources into a composite stream for transmitting over communication networks. Input signals can include a mix of serial digital data, digitized analog data, voice, time code signals, compressed video or virtually any data source that can be digitized. Once the data is in a composite stream, the units can move the data over various links including Ethernet, T1, multiple T1 (inverse multiplexing), DS-3, OC-3, or RF with data rates up to 155 Mb/s.

The system can easily be setup for bi-directional operation using both a multiplex and demultiplex function. This allows the data to move over the data link in both directions. Like most of Apogee’s products, the system is completely modular, which allows easy changes to the unit configuration in the field.

Apogee makes a Multiplexer in a rack-mount form as well as in a miniature, ruggedized version that is suitable for airborne applications, ground vehicles, robots or surveillance applications requiring very small dimensions.

The image below depicts a real example of where products from the Multiplexer Family are used in the field. In this example the AL4000 Rugged Multiplexer is capturing Ethernet, video, voice, and pcm data on-board an aircraft. This data is multiplexed together and transmitted to ground stations where it is then transported via an Ethernet link back to the control center where the data is demultiplexed in an AL4300 Multiplexer. At that point all of the information on the aircraft is received real-time by engineers at the control center.
